Inside design for a folder gives it a little flare when taking out documents. Color inside also adds to the "flare".

Petco
Petco's first logo was to complex with its overlapping reds; with the dog's ear on the "o" just being separated by the thick black outline. Spacing out the name from the illustration definitely helps the customer better understand the logo. Also adding in the light blue "healthy" to the new logo gives you a pure and clean feel when thinking about shopping their for your furry friends.
Wendy's
Simplified, focusing more on the girl than on a big sign with more than enough information on it. Everyone knows what Wendy's is so they no longer have to show its a "old fashion hamburger" restaurant.
Pepsi
Pepsi and its many years of perfecting a logo and brand type. Starting out red just like Coke. Adding in the blue in 1962, giving a different look from the normal colas using red logos. Now having the blue as a main focus with the hint of red in the illustration.
Arby's
From simple to a metal looking sign. Personally I like the older logo better, it is not over done and easier to remember the simple pattern than the shines and curves of the new logo.
Ebay
Old overlaying text into a more simple and clean typeface. Making it easier to read when at different font sizes. Overlapping looses its form when really small and makes it harder for the viewer to acknowledge the companies name.
Starbucks
Another example of how Starbucks has simplified their logo throughout the years. Going from a complex brown image with text all around to an green image without the name since it is so recognizable.
Chrome
Google chrome started out with a more complex image for their logo with shine details and metal like look. Simplify this logo still has the same message and seems more together and cleaner. Using the colors we all know from the "google" typeface.

Two page spread with mostly text/ information. Pictures are placed on both sides of the spread to put a face with the information. Needs a better header/ title. More subtitles and better/ more photos.
All American Rejects
Two page spread with text on both sides of a center picture. To create a guide for the eye to read, then lok at the picture, and then finish up with some more reading. Larger title creates the start for the ad.
MCR
Two page spread with many photos of the "subject". Text boxes and paragraphs all on the right side of the spread. Bold white text to stand out on the black background.
Ice Cream
One page ad using a photo of the product to draw in their customers. Also centered logo placement on the ice cream cone to center the viewers attention and allow the viewer to see the smaller text in the red ribbon.
Target
Two page ad with limited to no information. Only located in the bottom right corner. Mostly a photo based ad with the logo on both sides of the pages.
pencil
This logo shows the product hidden in a abstract way within the font. Creating a pencil in the type is creative and fun for both the designer and the consumer.
Lantern
A company that uses a lantern as their logo. Simple look, on a clean background with black typeface.
Umbrella
Business card using the same logo on the front and back. Blown up and cut off on the back with a reflection of the logo. Change in coloring for the front and back to help the customer see the difference of sides.
Yellow and Green
Folder created with color, pictures, and a white backdrop. The pictures are cut out like the leaves or petals of a plant. White text is placed on the yellow to make them information stand out.
Quartz
All image based ad, great way to show a product or place. Black text box to separate the information given from getting lost in the picture.
Rise to the top
One page ad, using black as the simple backdrop to the colorful illustration.
White text shows as clean, crisp, and bright. Along with the various balloon colors to brighten up the page.
Color wheel
Much like the "explore" using different ways of showing illustrations in the typography. Very creative and a great way to tie everything together.
Explore
Paint drip into the "O", very creative way of corroborating the illustration design in with the typography.
You Want A Revolution..
Eye catching colors, bold text, white text on yellow, and a red fist. This ad definitely draws the attention of the reader. The illustrations of the fist and the barbed wire make the ad seem edgy and dangerous. The yellow coloring on the top draws you eyes in first especially with the red coloring. The green text helps separate the bright coloring and white.
The Atlantic Meets The Pacific
Using a photo as the background. White with a blue box on top of with a low opacity to have the background picture shown throughout the page.
Single ad
Simple colored one page ad. Using a white silhouette of a bridge as their main background. Surrounding the image with text boxes and different hierarchy text. Red box at the bottom draws your attention first opposed to important information located at the top of the page.

Starbucks open mic
3 colors, black microphone really pops on the orange and cream background. Typography is well
placed and each area of information has a different weight to it and sizing.

Loving the color scheme, using one color with different tones. Cream backdrop really gives the flyer an aged look.

Fright Factory
Photo montaged flyer with dark coloring to display a creepy and scary feel. Type font is very fitting and works well for this flyer. No address is on this flyer to help the viewer located or contact this "factory".
Electric Pop Party Flyer
Simple coloring, white backdrop, and mostly a graphic based flyer.
Text hierarchy helps the viewer's eye scan over the flyer and read the important text as ordered by the creator.
Cartoon Party Flyer
A fun flyer for a cartoon premiere party. Fun colors and lighting. Red typography really stands out on the white thinking cloud, making the viewer read the important information first.
Orange Overland Folder
Orange, white, and black work with each other in this folder. I like the idea of the building's photo in the folder allowing the customer to see what the business looks like. Maybe lose the logo on top of the photo is gets washed out from the photo.
Frequent Flyer Flyer
Creative concept, coloring, and typography placing. Stretching and slanted type creates a moving being to the flyer. Slanted text also makes the viewer more involved with the piece. The coloring draws your eye and the black and cream contrast with the red.
Various type flyer
This flyer displays various directions and weights of type. The numerous colors draw your attention. Although its a little busy and some of less important information remains the same size.

Continued design
i enjoy the continued graphic from the front mirrored onto the back. Leaving white open space for the logo and information regrading the company. The blue and yellow don't really relate to the red and dark blue logo. Maybe if the blue and yellow were changed to red and dark blue the folder would blend together and look like a company.
Black and blue folder
Mixture of coloring on this folder, backdrop of black with a blue bar along the bottom on the front cover. Inside flaps are black and blue, the color change is very different and changes up the importance of information being displayed.
Quality Assurance Travel
This packet maintains the same color scheme throughout the different pieces. The front of the folder displays the different ways of travel that the company offers, showing also different cities in which this company is located. The business card shows a tour bus and gives information describing the company and how it works. The color scheme is great for both genders and for any age range.
Simple folder with detailed design
The bright purples on the white folder really make a statement. They sort of pop out at the viewer, showing off the details put into the design and not focusing on the background coloring of the folder. White keeps it clean and simple, not taking away from the overall design on the folder, cd covering, or business card.

Art deco feel, great coloring throughout this advertisement. Creative typefaces, really liking the main text at the top of the page. Very clean lines and untraditional.

Half solid color, half photo
Thinking of this layout, how half is a solid color and half is a photo with photos on top of photos.
The solid change between the two is clean and simple. Overlapping images shows depth and creativity.
City Ad
Using my lanterns as a city looking concept, though this city looks very interesting with its different angles.
City scape look
For the magazine ad maybe play around with having a "city scape" along the bottom of the site. Accompany that with some lantern photos perhaps to create and overall look...
